ABOUT

Katherine Douglas is an emerging artist based in Central Victoria, Australia.

After completing a Bachelor of Visual Communication (Advertising) at RMIT Melbourne, Katherine worked in media as a writer for radio and television for fifteen years. She then moved to Daylesford in regional Victoria,

and completed a Bachelor of Visual Art (Fine Art) with Distinction at Federation University in 2022.

The inspiration for her art practice comes from her lifelong passion for the natural world. Whilst studying she honed her interest in environmental themes and Australian birds, especially focusing on the fragility of species and ecosystems when faced with climate crisis. Today, her practice (both paintings and prints)

often explores birds and landscapes, both urban and regional.

Whilst completing her fine art degree, Katherine moved house with her young family to rural Victoria.

She has converted part of the shed into a studio, and is often distracted from her work

by the birds in the big gums on the property.

She has worked on large scale projects, commissions and has exhibited in a range of group shows.
